After a pleasant Christmas Day with family, the MTBers (Heidi & Ryan) headed off to the Victorian High Country to enjoy a relaxing few days alongside the cool waters of the Kiewa River just north of Mt Beauty.

Laurie was nursing a broken collarbone, so was taking things easy this weekend.

Some great MTBing was attempted around Mt Yorke & Mt Emu. Great views could be seen of Victoria's highest mountain (Mt Bogong at 1,986M) from Mt Emu as well as fantastic views of Tawonga Gap & the pretty town of Mt Beauty.

Other great MTB rides on this trip included a 45km ride starting up at the Mt Hotham summit at 1,800M & riding down to the West Kiewa River & then back up to Mt Beauty.

Another interesting MTB ride was a 25km strech from Falls Creek to Tims Lookout & back, with most of this ride up at 1,800M.

After some interesting 4WDing across the Bogong High Plains, our final campfire was on Eastern Victoria on the banks of the Limestone creek up at 1,000M.

The following morning, the MTBers headed up the Cowombat Flat track to start their memorable ride down into head waters of the Murray River at Cowombat Flat on the Vic/NSW border.

With the temperature hovering around 30, Heidi & Ryan completed the 26km round trip in 3 hours, while Laurie sat in the shade & read a book. Hopefully his collarbone will heal quickly.
