With most of the Victorian High Country closed from the December Bushfires, we changed our club trip to the exciting Otways.

Whilst most of the 4WD tracks are rated as easy, a sprinkle of rain can change the tracks in to interesting muddy bogs.

With 2 days of 4WDing planned, our trip included a rest day for members to do other activities. Heidi led a group of three MTBing around the Forrest area. Laurie led most of the rest on a bush walk around Lake Elizabeth.

Excitement was found when the walkers started their lake walk. A 1.5 metre Tiger snake kept a watchful eye as the walkers cautiously walk past. Heidi's group returned with very dirty MTB's.

As a change, we decided to base camp at the Forrest Caravan Park. Forrest is at the northern end of the Otways and is close proximity to the 4WD tracks.

The Otways are located approx 150kms SW of Melbourne and run west of the Great Ocean Road. they also stretch south to the Cape Otways & the famous 12 Apostles.
